Black and white photograph of Joseph Peters , a former German prisoner of war, and Mrs Dorothy Fisher on his first return to England after his repatriation following the end of the war. Length 6 cms : Width 6 cms Front - Black and white photograph. Small snapshot of a lady wearing a striped frock and a man in a light coloured suit standing in a porchway in front of the entry door to a house.. Back - Written in ink is ' Mum & Joseph. June 1958. Mrs Dorothy Fisher & Joseph Peters outside 24, Oakwood Hill, Loughton during his first visit to England after repatriation.' Note - See 1995.240.4 to 6.1 As far as I can recall I was told that Oakwood Hill, which is quite a long road, was constructed by prisoners-of-war during the late 1940s. So perhaps Joseph made some connections with the locals whilst a POW?
