Brief description

17th century plate, made of polychrome glazed pottery. Central floral motif of carnations, tulip buds and rosettes surrounded by multiple spiral designs. Painted in black, cobalt blue, green and bole red. Alternating green circular and cobalt blue floral designs on reverse. Found during excavations of a 16th century town house on Sewardstone Road in Waltham Abbey.
