Brief description

Silver penny of Harold II (Harold Godwinson). Pax or Sole Type. Minted in Wilton, Wiltshire, by the moneyer Aelfweald. Obverse, crowned bust facing left holding sceptre. Inscribed with '+HAROLD REX ANG' meaning 'Harold, King of the English'. Reverse, central 'PAX' or 'Peace' surrounded by '+AEFPOLD ON PILTI.' Believed to have been part of Soberton (Hampshire) Hoard.
