Brief description

Waltham Abbey Class III sepia school photograph, dated October 6th 1902. The class are posed outside a brick building on what could be steps. Front row - 2nd right hand side is marked with a x. Image has 4 tiered rows of young children with a woman standing behind. Front row has eight boys seated cross legged. with fourth from left having a board in front; second row has 8 girls and 3 boys (right side); third row has 9 girls and 1 boy (left side); fourth row has 9 boys. The majority of the boys have a white collar and most of the girls are wearing pinafores. The image has a border and is mounted on light brown card. The handwritten x is on the border and on the bottom right of the border is written October 6 1902. On reverse at the top in ink is written October 6 1902. beneath this in pencil is recorded Front row 2nd from right with x Edward George Armes Ruskin Avenue W/X
