Brief description
This cupboard was probably given as a wedding gift. The initials RG and AG with the date 1620 are on the front. The holes drilled here and in patterns on the front and side are for ventilation when storing food, and stopped pests (like rats) from getting in.
The cupboard was bequeathed by Ann Miller, who was Epping Forest District Council’s first female chairman in 1988. Ann and her husband Keith lived in Epping. She was a local schoolteacher and a later a school governor.
Among her many achievements, Ann was instrumental in the foundation of this museum in the early 1980s.
