Brief description

Mounted sepia photograph of Holgate’s General Store on the corner of Fountain Place and Franchise Place, Waltham Abbey, c 1900. The proprietors (?) stand at the doorway - a gentleman holding a dog on a lead, and on his right, a woman in a long white apron. The shop was taken over and run by Mrs Turner, until it was demolished in 1958 during the town redevelopment scheme. Donor's neighbour's husband lived in Waltham Abbey.
