Brief description
Handmade plush mouse toy: Poppy Eyebright. Part of a set of 6 Brambly Hedge plush toys made by the donor's mother, Alice Williamson when she was aged 80 in 1984, using The Brambly Hedge Pattern Book (EPPMS.2024.8.7), page 49 - 64.
Mouse wears a beige cloth hat (with her ears poking through)with a pink ribbon, and white and pink cloth flowers decorating the front. Head consists of simple plain black plastic beads for eyes and nose. She is wearing a white patterned bodice with pink flowers, with an off white cotton apron over, which is embroidered along the bottom with blue green and pink embroidered shapes, edged with guipure lace. The mouse has simple brown felt paws. The skirt is an off white cotton which is double edged with lace. At the back of the skirt, there are five layers of the same type of lace which becomes a train (slightly longer than the front). Over this at the back is a double bustle . The lower (longer) bustle is the same fabric as the bodice which has been edged with guipure lace and stitched along the bottom with embroidered lines of pink. Over this is a smaller bustle of off white cotton edged with guipure lace and embroidered with pink daisies stitched over it. There is a pink bow at the back of the waistline. Under the skirt are plain white pantaloons. The mouse tail and feet are visible (brown felt). See also 2024.8.1 which is another Poppy Eyebright (slightly different clothing and hat colours).
